Born in Hanoi 1926, currently lives and works in the province of Ha Bac. Graduated from the Hanoi School of Fine Arts in 1978, also a writer and poet. Celebrated for his unique child-like gouaches of buffaloes, dogs, sea animals, etc., rendered with bold strokes and vibrant colors on textured paper. Also known for his paintings of folkloric scenes, many with striking colors on black Vietnamese embroidered paper. Has been exhibiting in Hanoi and Saigon since 1989, and currently has work on permanent display at the National Fine Arts Museum. Second prize, Motivational Exhibit, 1968; Bronze medal, Fatherland's Front National Exhibition, 1990.
