The International Edition of Who's Who of the Asian Pacific Rim is a current compilation of personal and professional biographical information on individuals of influence throughout Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the People's Republic of China, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea (South Korea), Singapore, Taiwan (Republic of China), Thailand and Vietnam.

Selections for entry in this volume were are made from the fields of government, commerce and industry, journalism, medicine science, and education; a selection of the region's religious leaders is also included.

Entries from the field of government include heads of state, and a selection of ministers, legislators and ranking civil servants; for purposes of trade contacts, a strong emphasis has been placed on foreign service professionals stationed in the region.

Individuals managing commercial and industrial firms and media executives have been chosen primarily on their value as business contacts. Special attention has been paid to executives of firms with stock exchange prominence, those involved in the region's media, and individuals involved in banking and finance. Additionally, executives in electronics and computers, real estate and development, marketing, insurance, energy and a variety of service firms are also provided.

In the editorial evaluation that resulted in the ultimate selection of the names presented in this volume, an individual's desire to be listed was not sufficient reason for inclusion.

The individuals selected for publication in this volume were deemed to be of international reference value to colleagues, participants in business and civic affairs, researchers, analysts, biographers, librarians, educators, students, and others with specific or general inquiry needs relating to the Asian Pacific region.
