This is a very famous Vietnamese poem mourning the waste and separation of partners during wartime. It is foremost a poem of peace and was written in the eighteenth century when there was considerable civil strife in the country. The loyal wife waits and waits patiently for her husband who always promises to be home, but never arrives.
