The Phong Long (Orchid) Group, consisting of musicians from the traditional section of the Hanoi Conservatory, bases its "new traditional music" on earlier folk and traditional music forms, using both arrangements and new compositions in the traditional idiom. The vocalist Quy Bon, together with accompanists, performs some examples of Hat Cheo, the repertoire of the traditional popular music dramas, and Hat Chau van - ritual music linked with the typically Vietnamese adoration of saints. Folk singers of both sexes from Ha Bac province contribute specimens of its typical style of folk singing, Hat Quan ho, and singer and instrumentalist Kim Sinh performs songs and music from the exciting world of "opera renewed".
