This disc comprises very popular traditional pieces from the different regions of Vietnam, melodies inspired by the folk culture of certain ethnic minorities, but also recent works. Four groups of musicians have been recorded. The first three groups come from the Music School in Hanoi. Two similar pieces are performed by two groups on different instruments in order to draw attention to these similarities. The fourth group comes from Cao Bang. In interprets a repertory inspired by the folk culture of the ethnic minorities of this region. Several styles are presented in the recording, in particular, songs of the Bac Ninh region, the Hat Cheo theater of the north, love songs and lullabies.
